
Cheryl grew up in southwestern Ontario and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from University of Western Ontario. She pursued post-graduate work in biochemistry, toxicology, pharmacology and environmental chemistry. She worked as an executive with a major Canadian life insurance company before relocating to Pembroke, where she worked as Chief Administrative Director for a small professional practice.
Cheryl was first elected in 2000 for the riding of Renfrew--Nipissing--Pembroke, which she has represented since. As a Parliamentarian, she distinguished herself as a strong voice for defence issues.
An active participant in the Pembroke community, Cheryl has served as Chair of the Downtown Development Commission and as a member of the city’s Economic Advisory Committee.
Cheryl Gallant and her husband, Jamie, have four daughters.
