Investing in Canada’s Youth
May 09, 2013
On Thursday, the Harper Government announced that the Canada Summer Jobs initiative has created 36,000 jobs for Canada’s youth.
Today’s students are the workforce of tomorrow. Through the Canada Summer Jobs initiative, students gain real world experience and skills that will help them later in life when they transition into the workforce. They also earn money for the upcoming school year and help Canadian business owners meet their short-term labour needs.
This initiative is not only good for students, but business owners, local economies and the country as a whole. Indeed, as the global economy remains fragile it is more important than ever that we help ensure Canadians are being connected with available jobs.
Since 2006, our Government has helped 2.1 million students obtain summer jobs. By investing in Canada’s youth, our Government continues to support job creation, economic growth and long-term prosperity for Canadians.
