Supporting our Veterans
December 12, 2012
On Wednesday, Steven Blaney, Minister of Veterans Affairs, announced the creation of the Jobs-Emplois initiative and the Veterans Transition Advisory Council, two new initiatives aimed at helping veterans transition successfully into civilian life.
Through the Jobs-Emplois initiative, corporations seeking to hire veterans will work with Veterans Affairs to make veterans aware of these new employment opportunities. Starting in 2013, CN Rail will be the first to take advantage of this program by hiring over 2,000 veterans.
The Veterans Advisory Council will be engaging HR departments in the private sector to highlight the skills that veterans have to offer them. This council will be led by the True Patriot Love Foundation and will include representatives from leading national companies.
Both of these important initiatives build on the work our Government has done to enhance the opportunities veterans have once they decide to return to civilian life.
Our Conservative Government will always stand up for our veterans.
