Honouring our Men and Women in Uniform
November 05, 2012
On Sunday, Steven Blaney, Minister of Veterans Affairs, issued a statement encouraging Canadians to take time this week to observe Veterans’ Week.
Each year from November 5th until November 11th, Canadians are encouraged to commemorate the sacrifices and contributions of our veterans. It’s a time to reflect on the brave efforts of our men and women in uniform, both those who have served our country in the past, and those who still do today.
This year we have remembered numerous milestones including the 95th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, the 95th anniversary of the capture of Passchendaele, the 70th anniversary of the Dieppe Raid and the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812.
Our Government has enormous respect for the men and women who have defended our country, that’s why we are encouraging Canadians to partake in one of the many remembrance events being held across the country.
Honouring their sacrifices is the least we can do for our veterans and members of the Canadian Armed Forces.
Lest we forget.
