Focused on Responsible Spending and Economic Growth
October 05, 2012
On Friday, Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance, unveiled the Annual Financial Report of the Government of Canada for 2011-12. This report confirms that our Government is on the right track to returning Canada to balanced budgets in spite of continued global economic challenges.
Our Conservative Government is spending taxpayer dollars responsibly and efficiently to continue our economic success and reduce our deficit.
The results speak for themselves: since July 2009 Canada has created over 820,000 net new jobs, our debt-to-GDP ratio is the lowest in the G7 and our deficit is half of what it was two years ago.
Unfortunately, economic turmoil overseas threatens our economy. That’s why it is more important than ever that we avoid disastrous big-government spending programs and tax hikes, particularly the NDP’s job-killing carbon tax scheme.
Our Government will stay on track and support economic growth and work towards a balanced budget.
