Cheryl graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. Before entering public life she worked in the insurance industry as a group insurance executive, and then as Chief Administrative Director for a small practice in Pembroke.
She was first elected to the House of Commons in 2000 and is a forceful advocate for her constituency, with a focus on industrial development and defence. She currently sits on the Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and the Standing Committee on Defence.
Cheryl and her husband, Jamie, have four daughters.
